The Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily paving operations. The ideal candidate will manage field crews, coordinate with plant and trucking operations, ensure quality and safety compliance, and deliver projects on time and within budget. Strong knowledge of TxDOT specifications, HMAC paving techniques, and regional environmental challenges is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise and coordinate all aspects of hot mix paving operations, including milling, tack application, laydown, compaction, and final surface treatment.
• Ensure all work meets TxDOT and local municipality specifications and standards.
• Direct and manage crew activities, including operators, laborers, foremen, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate closely with the asphalt plant, trucking dispatch, QC/QA team, and Project Managers.
• Monitor project schedules and adjust field production to meet critical path deadlines.
• Maintain daily field logs, production records, and trucking tickets.
• Identify and solve production or logistical issues promptly.
• Implement and enforce strict safety and environmental compliance standards (e.g., PPE, stormwater, dust control).
• Communicate effectively with inspectors, engineers, and clients.
• Manage jobsite inventory, equipment maintenance schedules, and material ordering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in hot mix asphalt paving, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to manage multi-million-dollar paving projects and large crews in high-production environments.
• Familiar with TxDOT Item 340, 341, 344 specifications and asphalt placement requirements.
• Solid understanding of paving equipment operation and capabilities (e.g., pavers, rollers, transfer machines).
• Proficient in interpreting plans, mix designs, and field testing data.
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License and clean driving record.
• OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification is a plus.
