Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Service Technician will oversee the daily operations, service support, and hands-on assistance for equipment maintenance, repair, and performance in drilling, tunneling, and field-based operations. This role is responsible for managing a team of technicians, ensuring efficient operational support, troubleshooting, and equipment repair, while optimizing field service processes to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality. The Field Service Technician will also actively participate in field operations, offering hands-on support when necessary to ensure smooth operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, supervise, and develop a team of field service technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure successful execution of field operations and service tasks.
  • Hands-On Operational Support: Actively engage in field operations as needed, providing direct assistance with equipment setup, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Field Operations Oversight: Manage and ensure seamless operation of field service activities, including equipment setup, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting. Monitor performance to ensure efficient and effective equipment operation.
  • Equipment Maintenance Strategy: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, repair protocols, and troubleshooting guidelines to ensure longevity and optimal performance of field equipment.
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee and coordinate operational support for field crews, optimizing the efficiency and reliability of field services, and ensuring minimal downtime during project activities.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair Coordination: Manage complex troubleshooting and repair activities for field equipment, ensuring that technical issues are resolved promptly, minimizing operational disruptions, and ensuring safety compliance.
  • Collaboration with Internal Teams: Act as the main point of contact between field service operations, engineering teams, drilling personnel, and other departments. Work closely with internal teams to align operational objectives and resolve technical challenges.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all field service operations comply with internal safety standards, industry regulations, and company procedures. Conduct regular safety audits and promote a safety-first culture across the field teams.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor key performance metrics for field operations, including service response times, repair turnaround, and equipment performance. Prepare regular reports on operations and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel and equipment, to ensure operations are adequately supported. Monitor and manage the operational budget for field services, ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service efficiency, reduce costs, and increase the overall effectiveness of field operations. Drive initiatives for continuous learning and development within the field service team.
  • Training and Development: Develop training programs and provide ongoing technical support to field technicians to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective field operations.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Foster strong relationships with clients and internal teams, ensuring that service delivery meets or exceeds expectations. Act as a point of escalation for customer issues and ensure their resolution in a timely manner.
  • Emergency Response: Manage emergency field service support, providing immediate attention to urgent repairs and technical challenges to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as required by senior management to ensure the success of field operations and services.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in oilfield or geotechnical operations is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Solids Control Operator or similar role.
  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in field operations management, service delivery, or maintenance management, with a proven track record in a leadership or supervisory role within field services or operations.
  • Familiarity with various drilling fluids, their properties, and the principles of separation.
  • Ability to operate and maintain solids control equipment effectively and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Proficient in collecting and analyzing fluid and solids samples using appropriate testing methods and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work in remote locations and adhere to a flexible schedule, including rotational shifts and extended hours.
