Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibilities will be to evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid, win and execute the project. It is essential to have strong attention to detail and effective time management skills. Critical for success is the ability to work independently.

 

RESPONSIBLITES:

  • Follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that quotes are received in a timely manner
  • Work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to review project performance.
  • Bid setup, summary form data entry, bid pricing, and bid scheduling.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Heavy Bid maintenance (labor, crew, activity, and bid master codebooks)
  • Solicit, document, and analyze subcontractor/vendors quotations.
  • Bid to project data transfer (phase codes and budgeting)
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
  • Provide award related submittals
  • Track awarded contracts as required – may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders and credit.
  • Assist the contracting team during preparation of inquiries and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.

Qualifications

  • Education and experience requirements include: 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations technical training and/or related experience.
  • Must have 5+ years estimating with an extensive background in tunneling and trenchless technologies. Utility construction (specifically MTBM and/or tunneling applications) preferred.
  • Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort is essential
  • Must have the ability to prepare small and non-multispecialty proposals with minimal supervision. Incumbent will have oversight for profit/loss responsibility to the company.
  • 25% travel for jobsite visits, pre-bid meetings, and pre-construction meetings

  • Microsoft Office applications
  • HCSS (including Heavy Bid/Heavy Job)
  • Business Center Training
  • Scheduling software/CPM (including Primavera and MS Project)
  • Viewpoint (PM module, JC module)
  • Strong technical and proposal writing skills
  • OSHA Training
  • ISQFT cloud based sub/vendor solicitation software

 

Reports to: Appropriate Project Manager or Division Manager
