Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The primary responsibility is to investigate, evaluate, and to settle a variety of claims made against the firm, including liability, workers compensation, property, and automobile liability claims. This role requires a versatile skill set to handle different types of claims efficiently and effectively, ensuring fair and timely resolution while maintaining compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Claims Investigation
    • Conduct thorough investigations of liability, workers compensation, property, and automobile liability claims.
    • Gather and review evidence such as police reports, medical records, witness statements, and property damage assessments.
    • When required, Inspect damaged properties and vehicles to assess the extent of losses and injuries.
  • Claims Evaluation
    • Determine the validity of claims based on policy coverage and terms.
    • Consult with experts (e.g., engineers, medical professionals, legal counsel) to evaluate the extent of damage, injuries, and liability.
    • Calculate appropriate compensation amounts based on gathered evidence.
  • Negotiation and Settlement
    • Communicate with claimants to negotiate settlements and resolve disputes.
    • Authorize payments and ensure settlements are fair and within policy guidelines.
    • Work with legal counsel on complex claims and potential litigation.
  • Medical Coordination (for Workers Compensation Claims)
    • Coordinate appropriate medical care for injured employees.
    • Ensure timely and appropriate delivery of workers’ compensation benefits.
  • Automobile Liability Claims
    • Investigate and assess vehicle damage to determine the extent of the firm’s liability.
    • Interview claimants, employees, and witnesses, gather police reports, and collect other necessary documentation to establish the sequence of events leading to the claim.
    • Collaborate with auto repair shops to agree on repair costs and ensure vehicles are restores to their pre-accident state.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all claim activities and communications.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports for management.
    • Ensure all documentation complies with firm standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service by keeping claimants informed throughout the claims process.
    • Address any questions or concerns from claimants and employees promptly and professionally.
    • Educate claimants and employees in the claims process.
  • Compliance and Continuous Improvement
    • Stay updated on industry trends, insurance regulations, and firm policies.
    • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the development of best practices.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in claims adjusting, with experience in liability, workers compensation, property, and automobile liability claims.
  • Experience in the construction insurance industry is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • The ideal candidate is detail oriented and able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to perform in a team environment.

Location: Farmingdale, NY

Compensation: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 annually.
