Job Summary: We seek a skilled, experienced Welder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing welding and cutting tasks on bridge rehabilitation projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cutting and welding tasks on bridge structures, including steel and iron components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements.
  • Utilize various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding, to join metals.
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure project timelines and goals are met.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in preparing and setting welding jobs, including selecting appropriate materials and equipment.

Qualifications

Qualifications/ Skills:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in welding is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Welder in the construction industry, with a focus on bridge rehabilitation. AWS D1.5 certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding. Knowledge in safely operating oxyacetylene torches, plama cutters, grinders, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of welding safety protocols and practices.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working on bridge rehabilitation projects.

Job Requirements:

 

  • Follow oral and written directions and plans.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, walk, and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects while carrying tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to work on weekends and at night when needed, sometimes with limited notice.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • A pre-employment drug screen is required. All employees are subject to randoms and reasonable suspicion drug testing

 

Reports to: Superintendents while taking daily direction from field supervisors staff.
